Our Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologist offer Telehealth video consultations for clients locally and further afield.
Telehealth is the use of online communication to gain a live audio and visual connection to your clinician, who can then complete an assessment and provide suitable treatment without the need for physical contact.
There are a variety of reasons why you may be unable to attend our practice. Illness or injury may make transport challenging, or you may be concerned about or restricted in attending the clinic during the current COVID-19 pandemic. You may be away from home and want to gain treatment from a Therapist that you know and trust.
When you book an appointment, we email you confirmation with a link to open at the time of your appointment. We will then call you via this link at the agreed time and the therapist will talk you through the rest. All appointments will take up to 30 minutes unless otherwise advised.
We are using a dedicated encrypted and secure medical platform to provide this service. The service cannot be intercepted by third parties. We do not record any aspect of the consultation and only keep written notes, in line with our standard privacy policy.
Call our receptionist team on (03) 6344 9799 and book a time for our therapist to call you.
The consult will not be that dissimilar to a normal clinic session. Questions will be asked to gain a comprehensive history; you are likely to be asked to complete movements and activities relevant to the body area being assessed. A treatment plan will then be discussed and implemented. Obviously, hands on treatment cannot be provided and the focus will be on suitable self-management strategies and education.
You will need a working email address to receive the link for the session. You will need a working internet connection, either broadband or via mobile phone data. You will also need a device with a camera, speaker and microphone. This can be a computer, laptop, smart phone or tablet.
To ensure that you get the maximum benefit from your Telehealth consultation, make sure you have a reasonable space around you should your Therapist need you to perform some movement tests, and also some privacy in case you are concerned about relaying personal information.
When the consultation has finished you will hang up. You can then call the clinic reception to process payment and rebook for a follow up if this has been recommended by your therapist. Payment can be by card over the phone or if you would prefer an invoice can be sent out for a bank transfer to be completed. Receipts will be sent out on request.
All services are at the standard in rooms price – to be confirmed on booking the appointment. (This will also depend on the clinician you are seeing, e.g. Physiotherapist, Women’s and Men’s Health Specialist Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist or Personal Trainer.)
As of 30thMarch 2020 Telehealth consults are NOT yet claimable through most Private Health funds. This is hopefully subject to change in the very near future. St Lukes have announced they will cover Physiotherapy telehealth consultation as of 14thApril 2020 until 20th September 2020.
EPC referrals by the GP through Medicare are billable with telehealth.
Most third party claims such as MAIB claims and Workers Compensation should be covered – please check on booking the appointment and this can be confirmed.
